Job Description

Tauranga is in growth mode and it is an increasingly desirable destination to live, work and play.

To help deliver our city strategy and to manage future growth and development, our very busy Infrastructure Delivery Team are searching for an exceptional Graduate to become their Development Engineer.

The primary focus of this role will be helping to ensure that building consent applications are processed in accordance with legislative requirements. Further, ensuring that quality infrastructure is constructed and risk is managed for new developments in terms of safe landforms, robust engineering and appropriate responses to geotechnical and other natural hazards.

If you have the following knowledge, skills and experience, we’d love to hear from you:

An understanding of natural hazard issues and geotechnical engineering, and their effects as related to land development
An understanding of the Building Act and NZ Building Code
Experience in the use of Codes of Practice and City Plan documents
Ability to read and understand technical drawings and plans
Ability to understand technical content presented in reports relating to geotechnical and other natural hazards
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
Strong organisational and time management skills
Proficiency in a Microsoft environment
Ability to work well as part of a team and operates with integrity and respect
A tertiary level civil engineering qualification and a current full Driver’s Licence are essential requirements for this position. Please read the position description attached, for more information.
