About the Opportunity: Graduate Geotechnical Engineer – Wellington and Auckland
Jacobs plays a key role in the development and renewal of New Zealand’s Transport Infrastructure network with specialist engineering design and delivery teams in all regional centres. Jacobs capability extends to Roads & Highways, Bridges, Tunnelling, Rail, Aviation, Maritime & Ports, Geotechnical Engineering, Traffic & Transport Planning (including ITS), Economic Modelling & Studies and Project Management.
We have an exciting Graduate Geotechnical Engineer opportunity based in both our Wellington and Auckland offices for a recent graduate or student due to complete their studies by the end of 2019. Your role is to assist more senior professional engineers by carrying out tasks requiring accuracy and adherence to prescribed methods of geotechnical investigation engineering analysis, design or computation. The role is envisaged to span investigation and project activities for water, road, and building infrastructure projects.
Some of your duties will include:
Undertaking geotechnical desk studies and office-based research, and the derivation of ground models for engineering projects;
Undertake a wide variety of geotechnical design input including foundation design, stability assessments and ground improvement programs;
Conducting fieldwork, including walkovers, geotechnical site investigations including the supervision of geotechnical contractors, and construction inspections.
Please note, for this position you may be required to travel both within New Zealand and internationally.

The successful candidate will:
Have completed a degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering OR be due to complete a degree by the end of 2019
Be technically inquisitive
Have the ability to work both independently and in a team
Ask questions and challenge the norm
Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or a New Zealand permanent resident
